Pamela's Story

Life Living life and loving it every day! Always have, always will. Third person bio: Pam de Jong spent her youth moving around with her Air Force fighter pilot father all over Europe and the US. She was born in Moetsch, Germany, moved another 9 times only to end up graduated from an American High School in Stuttgart, Germany ¿ full circle. Pam was glad to get back to the US and go to Denver University in Colorado for a couple of years, but the moving was still in her blood. After graduating with a Theatre Arts BA from Boise State University in 1984, Pam started her financial career with E.F. Hutton. A year later she went to work for Merrill Lynch where Pam went from receptionist to Head Operations Controller in the San Francisco Branch in 4 ½ years. Then she moved to So. Cal to work with Smith Barney as a Registered Sales Associate and stayed for 7 ½ years. After almost 14 years in the finance industry, Pam jumped the fence and went to work for a client. She worked as an office administrator for a high net worth private family trust and foundation for 3 ½ years. In between all that work she managed to do 32 theatrical productions as she does have a BA in Theatre Arts. Some of these productions included Viola in Twelfth Night, Kate in Taming of the Shrew, Dolly in The Matchmaker, The Girl in The Girl Upstairs, Morales in A Chorus LIne, Lucy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. She also did a couple of commercials and a movie with Billy Crystal before hanging up the acting for awhile. Musically she wrote, produced, arranged and sang on her own album which reached in the top 100 of the independent country charts in Europe in the mid 90's. Entertaining is still the first love. In 2001, her 90 and 98 year old grandparents needed some assistance. She quit her job, sold her condo, and moved in with her grandparents in Northern California. Pam spent the next 2 years learning about life, love, respect, frustration, patience, anger management, and care-giving in the most intimate of ways. She feels she is a better person for it and has no regrets. At 92 and 100 years old, her grandparents passed on...Expand for more
and left Pam wondering what to do with her life. The experience of taking care of her grandparents changed her profoundly. She had to reconsider what was truly important in her life. Pam chose to go back to school and play catch-up on what she missed in the working world while taking care of her grandparents. She did this by getting her MBA (Masters in Business Administration) in Strategic Leadership. After an additional 2 years she achieved her degree with a Suma Cum Laude and a whole new set of skills. She then spent the next 2 years working with clients as an independent contractor. Pam enjoyed the variety and adjustable schedule to work around her new life and attitude. Working with individuals and small firms on a part time basis allows her to come in, work a project or cover for highly skilled employees and then finish. She saves her clients from paying employee related costs (benefits, Medicare, social security, etc) and still manages to preserve her enjoyment of work. Pam also works for individuals needing some home office assistance so they can spend their free time doing what makes them happy. Organizing home offices, paying bills, reconciling bank and investment statements, assisting with tax return preparation, creating health care directives, wills, and simple trusts as needed are a few of the tasks Pam does for individuals and small organizations who don¿t need a full time employee but still require some outside assistance. Her (hopefully final - which is a big leap for an Air Force dependent who has moved 22 times to say) last move was to beautiful North Bend, Oregon to live and enjoy life and start her new business as an independent contractor and management consultant in the Oregon Bay Area. She is currently singing and acting there already in the summer and Christmas Opry productions and reprised her role of Louise in the production of Always, Patsy Cline in September of 2008 at the Sprague Theatre in Bandon. That went very well with standing ovations nightly! She survived 2009 despite the economic downturn, but hopefully 2010 will be better! Wishing all a great year!
